Create Your Meditation Space

#tuesdaytip Ever heard of setting up your #meditation space like an altar? My advice to create your sanctuary is to follow the 5 senses … and ask these questions to feel comfortable and alive!

Feel- have a nice pillow to sit on or a chair (back or no?) I need a back support to be calm. Cross leg or feet on blocks?
Smell- Candle? Essential oils on your neck, diffuser? I use a diffuser because I think real candles create smoke(pollution) and I use battery candles too (see below) Lavender pillow for your first and last calming breaths?

Sight- Yoga mandala or cheerful calm painting? (SWIPE->) Battery candles? Salt crystals? Low lighting (elephant lamp) , altar with items you love like Buddha figurines, ohm pillows & reminders for you be present, or things that have sentimental value (the sun sculpture above ).

Hear- Spa music on Alexa or your phone? Meditation app? Small water fountain? If you have kids I recommend you use sound canceling headphones. I also use a singing bowl to start and end practice. My favorite yoga poem sits above my seat for extra inspiration.

Taste- my only rule is to brush teeth if doing in morning and if in afternoon I have a few sips of calming tea to center myself.

Namaste!
